SCA Canada - A Letter From The National Coordinator
Dear Members and Community,
The Canadian chapter of SCA was formed by a group of passionate volunteers who had the vision and ambition to grow the community. The one quote that has stuck with me since I was a kid was John F. Kennedy’s inaugural speech:
“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,”
And so I have been very much inspired by the dedication I have experienced with the new group of Coordinators thus far. Their energy and passion to further the chapter’s mission is hard to beat and that’s just very exciting.
You’ll notice that there weren't many activities during the transition to the next term. That is because we have been busy planning on what we would like to achieve in the next two years and I think we’ve nailed it.
For this term we will focus on supporting the recovery, revitalization, and growth of our coffee community in the wake of the pandemic through reconnection, engagement, and strategic partnerships.
We will do this by fostering two-way communication with all stakeholders we serve, improve and strengthen our processes, and strive to expand our reach in order to serve a wider community with even greater value.
How will we do this? Here's some of the things we have already actioned off or plan on doing:
Quarterly email updates that will include SCA Canada’s financials & projects
Reintroduction of published meeting notes
Allotted time in quarterly meetings to address community’s comments/concerns
Annual town hall meetings
Connect with specific coordinators w/ direct emails
Gearing up for competitions w/ safety being utmost priority
Judges education programs
Community Features
But we want to do more, we want to have a bigger impact on the community. Following last term’s survey, we want to know if anything has changed from our community. So we decided to pull another survey that is now live and will be until October 31st. I’ve provided the link here.
Better yet, come join us. We are a group of unpaid volunteers who want to serve the Canadian coffee community. If that’s you, let's connect.
Thanks, we appreciate you,
Sam Le (She/Her)
National Coordinator
