2024 Canadian National Coffee In Good Spirits Competition

The World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship promotes innovative beverage recipes that showcase coffee and spirits in a competition format.

This competition highlights the barista/barkeeper’s mixology skills in a setting where coffee and alcohol go perfectly together. From the traditional Irish Coffee (with whiskey and coffee), to unique cocktail combinations.

The winner will proceed to represent Canada at the World CIGS Championship, June 27-29th in Copenhagen.

This event showcases the Cezve or Ibrik preparation of brewing coffee, set in a competition format that celebrates the cultural tradition. In this championship, it is encouraged that the competitors bring their own style/cultural element to their performance to showcase what is one of the oldest forms of preparing coffee.

The winner will go on to compete at the World Cezve/Ibrik Championships, June 27-29th in Copenhagen.

In the National Latte Art Championships, competitors will produce a series of free pour and designer lattes and macchiatos. The Championship consists of a Preliminary Round, Semi-Finals (including an Art Bar and a Stage Presentation), and Finals.

The winner will go on to represent Canada at the World Latte Art Championships, June 27-29th in Copenhagen.

This year, the Canadian Barista Championship qualifying rounds and finals will take place across a single weekend in Montreal, Quebec! Hosted by Origine 117, Cafe Saint-Henri, and Apex Coffee Imports, 32 baristas will compete for the title of Canadian Barista Champion and the chance to represent Canada at the World Barista Championship in Busan, Korea, May 1-4th, 2024.

In the Cup Tasters competition, three cups are placed in a triangle. Two cups are identical coffees and one is different. The competitor must use their sense of smell and taste, as well as attention and experience, to identify the odd cup as quickly as they can. There are eight triangles in each round.

The winner will go on to represent Canada at the World Cup Tasters Chanmpionship, April 12-14th in Chicago, IL.
